ETA - just found out from bmezine.com that this bird is NOT a phoenix. Many people confuse this beautiful style of bird for a phoenix, but in fact it is a Bird of Paradise. Flames are usually added to make it look like a phoenix, but the actual bird is a Bird of Paradise. Interesting little tidbit, no? ^_^

When I returned to the Tribulation booth, Tim Kern was working on a Transformers Decepticon chest panel, Liorcifer was tattooing a skull on a guys hand, and Dan Marshall was tattooing a half-sleeve of the Munsters onto a band member of Lacuna Coil.
I chugged some water, and decided that I was just too exhausted from the jet lag, partying, and the few miles of walking earlier that day. The heat was getting to me, and I didn’t want to be around the crowd any more. I figured, it was only 6pm, so I could go take a nap.
I headed upstairs, dumped all the photos off my camera to my computer and set my alarm for 8:30. That should give me an hour and a half of recuperation time, and leave plenty of time to head back down to do some more coverage.

Me Want A Dragon Tattoo
I have been wanting a dragon tattoo (not there, obviously) on my arm since aeons but havent been able to get one till date. If I happen to see a tattoo shop I get pretty excited but Aaman inevitably says next time and we move along.
I dont think Aaman would mind if I turned up bald but he is dead set against me getting a tattoo. He never says a direct 'No' but he'd rather I got those sticky, fake, cant take the pain tattoo instead of the real thing.
After nearly four and a half years of whining about a tattoo if I dont get it now then I'm a real chicken! It is either going bald or a green scales on my upper arm.

1. DO YOUR RESEARCH
Ask a friend for recs or troll MySpace. Tons of people have professional pages with examples of work they've done, and if you see someone with art you like, ask them for details. Remember, "your body is the artist's canvas. When you're walking around with their ink, you're a walking piece of art," says Verbance.
2. BE PATIENT
If you're not in LA, waiting until you're en route to a big city (Verbance names Seattle, San Fran and Vancouver as good tattoo cities) might be worth it for a top-notch artist. Need we remind you it's permanent.
3. GET A CONSULTATION
Going in for a discussion on what you want gives the artist time to create the best design possible. A custom tattoo is way cooler than a stock hibiscus you pick out of a binder (yikes.)
FYI...all you local LA-ites, Unbreakable Tattoo in Studio City is the place to go to and ask specifically for Dave Robinson. He'll take care of you.
